Merrick McKay (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist currently practicing in oskana kâ-asastêki (Regina, Sk) on Treaty 4 Territory. She is a citizen of the Métis-Nation Saskatchewan. Her family lines are Black, Plains Cree and Métis.
Merrick works in painting, beading, drawing, writing, and animating, all in which are rooted in fostering personal healing. She has been beading since 2020, mainly self-taught. Merrick's work serves as a means for reconnection and resistance.
Maskwa means 'bear' in Cree, Merrick's nickname.
